.. for surviving and passing my comprehensive exams. Now, the real work begins, the research...

It's 5:06 am local time.

France lost 5:3 to Italy in the penalty shoots. But France is the better team having 11 goal attempts to Italy's 3. I just wonder what got into Zidane for him to headbutt the chest of Materrazzi? He must have really been pissed off. Too bad he ended his career with a red card. I'm sure Les Bleus was demoralized when he got out of the game. But I think he is still the hero of this game. Hey, but that's football and it will be written in football's illustrious history. Bravo!

Kudos too for Gemany's great hosting of the World Cup. Owe it to German efficiency?

No, I didn't see the World Cup matches live at all, but I read them live, real time on the internet. World Cup 2006 is a great example of multimedia reporting. The fan blogs add THE flavor to the matches. Even just reading the blogs and the exceptional Match Cast on the FIFA website, you can feel the excitement, the tension and the euphoria for every match. this could be a good communication study: how the world cup brought the world together, watching matches through different time zones, even virtually hearing the collective sighs and hurrahs for every goal missed or made. That's the World Cup for you. Kofi Annan even envies the way FIFA brings nations together, with 200+ member nations compared to the UN's 191 (my stats may not be accurate but still it's a fact that FIFA has more members than the UN!).

Pinoys should try to elevate this game higher than basketball. Stop liking what Americans like. Sorry basketball and boxing fans. Pinoys will excel in football. It doesn't require height, which genetically, Southeast Asians lack, just stamina and some speed.

Now, I'm waiting for the delayed telecast to see the action without the intense nervousness of not knowing the outcome. hehehe

Who says graduate studies is mostly just serious stuff? We, too, like to party! A lot. Otherwise, we might all end up in the loony bin. Carry on kalachuchi tribe!
